One of the earlier social media sites, Friendster, has completed its “revamp” and “transformation” from a social networking hub, into a social gaming site.
Personally, Friendster was my first taste of Social Networking. All the cool kids were doing it, so I figured I might as well get in on the action, see what was what. It was like pot: a harmless hit here and there eventually leading down the spiraling vortex that ended in Facebook addiction.
I suppose it is testament to Facebook’s dominance of the social network site scene that it completely overshadowed and overtook its predecessor.
Some may look at Friendster’s radical change as a service: Hopefully those pesky gamers who keep flooding their Facebook feed with game invites and announcements will migrate over. FFS, they do not care that a horse wandered onto your pretend farm. Keep your dragon eggs. No, they do not have any doughnuts to feed your hungry cops.
